Never underestimate them: The story of disabled people

Arnold (2012) says that “Nick Vujicic is an international motivational speaker who draws on his experiences of depression and loneliness while living as a disabled child” (p. 1). He was born with Tetra-Amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. Besides that, he also dealt with typical challenges of adolescence such as bullying and self-esteem issues throughout his childhood. The extraordinary Nick says that, “As a teenager, I wanted to prove to myself that I could be independent, and it would take me an hour to get ready, brush my teeth, shower and dress myself” (Georgio, 2012, online). He learned to write using the two toes on his left foot with a special grip that slid onto his big toe. By relying his faith in God, he gets the strength to transform the pain of living as a limbless man to a limitless man of God. He become a headlining speaker at Spirit West Coast. Nick has travelled around the world, sharing his story with millions of people, speaking to businessman, students and even the homeless in New York since his first speaking engagement. Figure 1 shows Nick is giving motivation to other people.
